Linwood Gardens, near Rochester, New York, is the historic home of a large group of tree peonies bred by William Henry Gratwick II and his friends. Gratwick’s daughter, Lee, has updated the garden’s design so that it celebrates peonies at every turn, such as here near the lily pool. Opposite inset: The cultivar ‘Zephyrus’.
